It should do, I read a bit back about Nero 6 having a facility for cutting the unwanted bits out like extra scenes and directors comments and crap like that, along with cutting extra languages and subtitles which werent needed to enable it to fit on one dvd too  :)

Of course, it must be said that we cannot condone the illegal copying of DVD films.  If you own the copyright, that's fine, and I think it's just about OK to back up your own DVDs, strictly for your own personal use.   ;)

What software are you using to burn the DVDs?

Which files did it create, were they VOB ones in a TS folder, if so you just drag all of them in and burn as a video dvd as far as I know  ???

Can I jump on board please to ask a few Qs as well  :)

I am having the same problem, have used DvD shrink and it wont play them, but it will play them on the House dvd player.

Also the same copy that I have originaly backed them up from won't work now, but will on the house dvd player, what am I doing wrong.

Sorry to hijack the thread but it seems we have the same problem  ;)

Sandra, I tried that and I dont have what you said  >:(

I assume its because you have the OEM version of Nero 6 that came with your DVD writer  ???
That article , and my version, is Nero Ultra and I have attached a screenshot of my Nero Express 6 which has a button at the bottom called "NERO" which switches from Nero Express to the Nero Burning Rom as described in the article  :(
I dont suppose that you have that option in your Nero Express do you ?

If you look at your Nero CD again, check and see if you have an option for ULTRA or NERO BURNING ROM on it as you may have only installed part of it, but I doubt it  :(

Firstly , may I apologise to Italianbuff for hijacking your thread, if you want me to start another please say  ;)

Sandra, I do have that button as the same as you but it only directs me to a web site  >:(

Have added what comes up when I enter the disc.

Sorry Hooky, looks like you need the Ultra Edition, if we'd only found this out on Friday it would have saved you a lot of hassle  :(
Maybe its available as a plugin, that will be why its directing you to neros site  ???

Before you buy anything Hook you should try burning with a different disc  :o

I couldnt burn the one you gave me to try but mine burnt the same film with the same settings fine  :)

I'll drop one of mine through your door on the way to work tomorrow and see if you have any joy with it  ;)

Its only 2.4X but the disc quality seems to be  vital with DVD burning  ::)

If you got all those free ones and they're the problem you could still use them for data and music ok  ;)

That's a good point, GK.  If you look on Ebuyer, at the DVD Writer reviews, it's well documented that some writers have a problem with the cheaper blank discs.

I have found quite a good outlet for blank discs, at http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk/index.mhtml.

have you tried alcohol 120%, it has specialized decoders and compressors, its said to be able to burn dvd with any encryption protection. Copys are ment for personal use of course. Its said to be able to backup ps1 and ps2 games without needing modchips installed. Theres also DVDxcopy, i haven't heard one negative about either. They aren't free but they work of course. If your needing help "locating" a copy, you can contact me on AIM sn Bobscrachy. Everyone knows i would never suggest something morally negative... ;)   (https://www.pc-pals.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fe.1asphost.com%2Fsephiroth23%2Fcoolbeer.gif&hash=607436b001f4651bbac8bcadfef60df17de5f87b)
