Quicktime player in taskbar
« on: February 19, 2004, 17:41 »
I've recently uninstalled quick time player from my PC, but when I start my PC up the icon still appears in the taskbar. The program has gone, but how do I stop it appearing in the taskbar? When I right click the icon the options to start the program have gone but there is still a link to their website.

Thanks in advance
Phil

P.S. Just realised while typing this that I haven't been on here for ages - might have something to do with the fact that I've managed to get my PS2 networked! All I've been doing is playing games on the net!

If your on XP Phil, go to run and type msconfig and go to start up page, look for Quick run time and untick the box, i think you will have to reeboot to take place.

It's probably in your startup folder, Phil, so each time your PC starts, the program puts that icon in the tray ready to fire up.  If the entry is still in the startup folder, the icon will still appear, even though the program has been removed.

Right click the Start button, then Open the Start Menu, find the Startup folder, and you should be able to remove it from there.

If it is set in your registry to start with Windows, you can still remove it by Start > Run > Msconfig > Startup (tab), find the entry and either just disable it, or if you're OK at delving into the registry, make a note of the registry entry location, and you can remove it from there.  Of course, a backup of the registry should be made before any tinkering.

Hope that helps, come back to us if not.   :)
