Cable Broadband

Here's a quick one - if a house has cable installed from a previous, but now removed, Cable TV installation, can this existing facility be used for Cable Broadband Internet?  If so, does it have to be with the original cable provider, or could a cable facility provided by, say NTL, then be used for Telewest Broadband?

I think you will find that whichever cable operator has taken over the area will be able to reconnect and enable cable broadband Simon  :-*

yup, once the installation has been done its there permanently. the same hard wiring can be used for subsequent setups.

What we need is the government to kick the telecoms industry into providing a menaingful service to ALL areas, not just the densely populated ones

There have been a few changes lately in the freeing up of licences etc, but more needs to be done.

the problem being that as they are now a private concern there is no compulsion on bt's part to provide a potentially loss making service anywhere.  i'd love to name just one example of a national company that was privatised and serves the community better than it did before but i cant think of one....hums the red flag...
