Hi DJ.
Just be careful if you use any registry cleaner. I use the well known "Regcleaner" (now renamed JT16 Power Tools) and on Sunday it deleted my user.dat file, one of the two files that make up the registry in Win98SE. My personalised settings had reverted to Windows default installation settings, and programs such as my anti-virus and firewall were no longer working as "The trial period has expired".
Fortunately, although no expert, I am savvy enough to have been able to switch off the power, start again at the c: prompt and run Scanreg from the c: prompt, to enable me to restore the previous day's registry. Otherwise I would have been well and truly in the you-know-what.
Just be careful.
