All games crash
« on: January 17, 2005, 19:50 »
Hi all :)
The problem is this . Every game i install and try to play just freezes...eg HL2,DE2.LOTR BFME causes a serious crash , shows the blue screen ,"summin about nvdisp " and reboots. Everything was working fine on my old SOLTEK mobo untill it fried.
My new board is the GIGABYTE GA-7VAX , ATHLON2100+ , Creative Geforce4600ti , Audigy Platinum , 2*512 DDR PC2100`s , WinXP SP1 ( and the problems happened in SP2 ) and all the latest drivers.
Monitor is HANSOL710P 1024*768 @ 100HZ.
Freecom DVD+RW.

All or any help will be greatly appriciated

Cheers
Carl

Hi Mad and  :welcome:

It does sound very much like a graphics card driver fault and i had a problem with mine when i went to SP2 as well  ::)...

I updated to the latest driver for my card and it wasn't very stable so i installed the previous latest one and it's been a lot better  :thumb:

I'd suggest trying the previous latest driver for your graphics card as the latest one can sometimes have problems with them until they've been well tested  ;)

If that doesn't help any I'm sure there will be other ideas from more techie people later  ;) ;D

The problem first started when STEAM updated HL2, but i`ve recently formatted ( no HL2 installed ) and still get the damn (worse than b4 )problem.

Sorry just remembered i flashed the bios the other day, everything when fine so i dont think its that .
Could it be anything to do with VIA chipset?

Did the games crash before you flashed the bios ?
Did you save the old bios ?
If it didnt crash before then flash back to the old bios maybe  ???
