hi guys

i have a faulty cd-rw stuck in my dvd-rw drive.  it wont eject either by the eject button or the eject command in explorer.  its also slowing everything else down.  how can i get it out.  the fascia on the pc also covers the little hole to eject cd's in such cases.

Anything small enough Dave  :)

I have some really small watchmakers type screwdrivers and I find that the next to the smallest one fits, failing that try a paper clip opened up.
The bit you need to catch is often slightly off to one side so you may have to waggle it a bit as you push it in to contact it.

Sometimes just rebooting the pc will allow the eject button to work too  :)

Yes Dave, that's the best thing to do. But you should press the eject button just when the boot sequence got started. Don't wait longer, because it might prevent you from ejecting it. (I think, if you wait long time, it'll be considered as part of the system, not as a separated CD. It wouldn't eject in certain cases.)

Edited by me again:

Glad you got it sorted. I'm too slow in writing.    :(

Boss like to crapped his shorts when i force edjected a cd using a paperclip. When you do that you have to restart the machine right afterwards to get it to suck the tray back in, but its a handy trick.
