eBay auction help for Firefox
« on: July 05, 2007, 22:08 »
Keeping tabs on all your active eBay auctions could be made easier with the launch of a new add-on for the Firefox browser.

Developed by eBay and Firefox's creators, Mozilla, the Firefox Companion for eBay lets you instantly access all your active auctions and alerts you when you have been outbid on an item.

The add-on has already been tested by some eBay traders and refinements have been made by Mozilla and eBay before the product's final release.

"By enlisting the help of the wider community, we have been able to deliver a solution that eBay traders really want ? an add-on that enables eBay users to stay connected to their eBay trading wherever they are on the web with Firefox," said Christopher Beard, vice president of products and marketing at Mozilla.

The companies say the add-on makes the process of finding items and bidding much quicker and easier, while keeping your personal information secure.

Torsten Schuppe, head of interactive marketing at eBay.co.uk said: "It's quick, easy and safe and our research shows that our users are enjoying this innovative way of keeping up-to-date with all things eBay."

However, the Firefox Companion for eBay does not yet have the functionality of software programs such as Z Group's Onbidder, which lets you place bids on items up to a pre-defined limit even when you're offline to ensure you win auctions you have entered.

eBay UK's solutions manager, Dr Jonathan Gabbai, told Web User that this was something that Mozilla and eBay planned to add to future versions of the Firefox Companion for eBay.

The Firefox Companion for eBay can be downloaded for free from the Mozilla website.
