UK online ticket exchange Seatwave will provide its customers with a full refund if a concert or event is cancelled or if they suffer problems such as travel delays.
The website, which launched in February, lets people buy and sell tickets for concerts, theatre and sports events.
Sellers set their own price for their tickets. Under the new Ticketcover protection scheme, which is free to all buyers, if an event is cancelled, the website will guarantee customers receive the full cost of what they paid for their tickets and not just the face value.
It also covers buyers for circumstances that prevent them from attending a performance such as severe transport delays, an accident or illness.
Joe Cohen, founder of Seatwave, said: ?Right now, customers have little protection if unforeseen circumstances prevent them from attending an event with concert promoters rarely, if ever, giving a refund. We don't see why people should be left out of pocket because they couldn't attend due to situations out of their control.?
Seatwave, which has more than 400,000 tickets on sale, also offers a second type of cover for buyers. Ticketintegrity guarantees that buyers will get the tickets they ordered and get them in good time for the event. If not Seatwave refunds 150 per cent of what was paid.
