Topic: Windows Calendar

Just got a laptop with Vista on it, so I am currently finding my way round it.  I use Works Calendar on my main PC, which has a nice pop up reminder facility.  Windows Calendar in Vista seems to have a similar facility, but the calendar itself also opens with the pop up reminder.  Is there any way to stop the calendar opening as well as the reminder?

I dont use it myself Simon but theres a bit in File called Options that has a box you can untick to stop reminders from showing if calendars not running.
I cant see anything else about it in the program though.

Can't you just take it out of your start up list? 

A couple of good things if you haven't discovered them yet are the easy partitioning Link and the snipping tool is better than most screen captures

I found that bit, Sandra, but as you say, the options are limited.

If I took it out of the startup list, the reminders wouldn't work either, would they? 

I'll have a look at that partitioning tool, thanks John.  This came pre-partitioned.  It's a 120Gb hard drive,partitioned 50/50 for Programs / Data, but I don't need all that much for programs.

60gig is recommended for Vista Simon so I would leave it as it is, especially if your swap file is on C, unless you really need a lot more space for data.

Well, no I don't, San, but the C drive (with Vista on) is only showing about 30% full, so it seems like a lot of wasted space.

Drives work better when they have a lot of space on them and its surprising how quickly the C drive can fill up if youre not careful with saving stuff that normally defaults to C\Docs and settings\user\ my docs etc.
Not everyone saves what should be saved to the second partition or drive instead of where XP and Vista like to save it to.
