i have the same thoughts, I do think apart from my work environment where faster code and number crunching is a good thing (I have a cluster of a thousand process to play with there) I dont have the need at home.

My home built computer will be 5 years old soon, and it's still going strong, with no desparate need of an update.  Of course, things take a few more seconds to open up than on a new machine, but it generally does what I want it to do, which is why I wouldn't have considered getting Vista had it not been pre-installed on my laptop.
