IE6 users warned to upgrade
« on: June 29, 2008, 10:57 »
Anyone using Internet Explorer 6 should upgrade to the latest version of the browser, IE7, to avoid security risks.

A researcher at security firm McAfee said that a scripting flaw in IE6 could lead to hackers gaining access to your computer.

McAfee recommends that users of IE6 should upgrade to IE7 or use an alternative browser such as Firefox.

"Until a patch is available, we advise IE6 users to disable scripting in the browser or upgrade to IE7 to avoid potential exploitation due to the public disclosure of this vulnerability," said McAfee's Yichong Lin.

Lin said that McAfee had informed Microsoft of the vulnerability.

A second beta version of IE8, the next browser in the Internet Explorer line, is due to be released in August.

Upgrading to Firefox would be a much better idea.  ;)
