Blinkx launches online TV guide
« on: July 31, 2008, 14:58 »
Video search engine Blinkx has launched a new service to help you find episodes of your favourite TV shows on the web.

The Blinkx Remote is a tool that will guide you to TV programmes that are shown online, such as content from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five.

Though Blinkx doesn't have any partnership deals with broadcasters, it uses information already available on the web to compile an index of programmes that are legally available to download or stream.

"The online video landscape has changed dramatically over the past year - what was once the domain of short-form, user-generated material, has become the realm of premium television," said Suranga Chandratillake, founder of Blinkx.

"Blinkx Remote uses our award-winning video search technology to help consumers find their favorite TV shows quickly, easily and in one place," Chandratillake continued.

What's On TV already offers a TV Replay service which guides you to programmes that are available to watch again after their initial TV broadcast.

I've never actually watched a TV programme online, as most of them are repeated on TV anyway!
