Interesting read about people trying out linux, I don't at all agree with the ipod support comments - all the major audio tools seem to do this, I use rhythmbox

Noted this myself and not quite sure why this happens. I only run effects on my demonstration laptop...only so long I can tolerate wobbly windows and pretty sparkles before they get annoying or in the way of my work.

I find this happens all the time on the EeePC, running Ubuntu, and it's annoying enough to stop using it.  :dunno:

its just the programme crashing... though it shouldnt happen often...

It happens all the time, especially when I'm on here with it.  I was wondering if it was the flash animations, but it does it almost as much on Netters too, and they don't have any.  :dunno:

using firefox? could be the flash animations.. but that doesn't explain both sites.

did you install ubuntu at all, or are you using the default os that came with it?

No, I binned the original OS, and have Ubuntu on it.  Curiously, I didn't get this problem with the old OS, but it was just pants anyway.

that's odd - you could try a different webbrowser, just in case it is firefox. I'd suggest epiphany. If its not on there you can install it by going to the menu > applications > Add/remove... or if you are feeling confident, just open up a terminal and type:

(it will ask you for your password)

Well, it does seem to work better, but I need to fiddle with it a bit.  It looks quite dated, with the huge icons, and it hasn't imported my passwords from Firefox, so that could be a bit of a faff.

yeah, its not as good as firefox in any respect, but thought it would be worth a go...

you could always try upgrading firefox...  either by the package browser or by typing:
