Microsoft is to allow advertisers to reach out to Windows 7 users by utilising the Desktop of its latest operating system.
A pilot scheme will run until 2010 and advertisers such as 20th Century Fox, Porsche and Pepsi have been lined up.
Advertising will appear in the Windows 7 interface itself as well as add-ons to the Internet Explorer browser, according to Microsoft.
There will also be themes relating to the advertisers, so you can download wallpapers designed by your favourite brands.
"The new Windows Theme Experience and Windows Personalisation Gallery in Windows 7 allow consumers to customise their technology to reflect the things in life they are most passionate about," a Microsoft spokesman said.
