You could spend three or four days in the American Museum of Natural History and still not see all the dinosaur fossils, meteorites, butterflies, lizards, diamonds and historical artifacts it has to offer. But even if you could, you would only have seen one face of the museum. In the basement, attic, turrets, back hallways and closets there’s an equally dizzying array of awesome stuff.

I visited in 1968 but didn't have time when I returned to New York last autumn.  It's a truly magnificent museum.
