A man used to send his dog to the newsagent each day to pick up his paper, then call into the shop at the week-end to pay his bill. One weekend he was too ill to go out, so he stuck a fiver in the dog’s collar and sent him to the shop, knowing that the newsagent would take the money as payment for his papers.
After some time, the man was getting worried that the dog was late, so he dragged himself out of bed and went looking for it. As he turned the corner he saw the dog on top of a French poodle and obviously enjoying itself. “Well,” he said to the dog, “you’ve never, let me down like this before.” The dog looked up and said, “I’ve never had a fiver before!”
