Thanks Sandra but it didn't work

Well being as I wasn't sure what Av was  :'(

i just shut everything down that was running and reinstalled it as you said but it still came up with the message...
mscomctl.ocx or one of dependencies it not reistered or missing or invalid.
Think I'll just try a different one aye?

Sorry to be a bit late with this but I've been away.  The answer to this one is to install Start Page Guard which will not only restore your home page, but will prevent it being hijacked again.  You can download it from:
