As far as i am aware, the purchase is 100% legitimate, the Norton Security suite came already installed, i was given no Norton CD's. I have sent an e-mail to the IT department of the company i bought the PC from. The advert says the PC comes with "Symantecs Norton Internet Security 2003 suite"
I wonder if this is at the heart of the problems i have seen occasionally.
As an aside, there is an AOL icon in the system tray next to the icon for Norton but it comes and goes. Can i make it stay there ?

Sorry, i am mistaken. I have found a CD entitled Motherboard Utilities, which has on it Norton Internet Security 2003. Should i un-install and re-install it ?

@jon996
Norton Security suite is a combined firewall and anti-virus program and you should have a firewall working when on the internet
