DSL and long distance
« on: January 26, 2004, 17:25 »
Long story short if I pick up my DSL box and move it 3 hours away so I can use DSL here, will I be racking up long distance charges like if it were dial up? Or any other nasty effects?

I called Verizon the other day for help because it wasnt working, asked them about this, they said it was tied to the phone line. Well the phone number has been changed since 2 months ago so I dunno how that is possible   ???

Then I explained this to the lady and she goes "oh well verizon periodically checks to see which numbers dont work anymore, so you'll want to call them right away and tell them your number changed"  :P
y gf wants me to post instead of making a signature.  $$ :)

The line from the exchange to the house where your modem/pc is has to be DSL enabled, unlike with 56K dial up, so you cant get away with plugging a DSL modem into a non DSL line unfortunately  :(
