DVD Slowdown
« on: March 13, 2004, 12:47 »
Everytime I use my DVD drive my PC slows down, sound slows and I get disconnected from the net and when I reconnect I get 28.8K  :( Any ideas why?

PC Specs:
AMD 2000XP
512Mb SD RAM
SONY DVD-ROM DDU1211
18Gb Hard Drive
Intel 536 56k V90 Modem

I also want to point out my PSU (I Think It's 300W) sounds like it's on it's way out with lots of clicking sounds coming from it.

2 words that when put together contradict one another

Example:
Microsoft Works

very very strange.

make sure that DMA is enabled on that DVD drive, to start with.

Can you give some more details - systems specs, O/S type etc etc.... I take it you are using a 56K modem....

it could be a power issue (ie not enough).
