Avoid Windows XP activation after reinstallation
« on: September 08, 2004, 03:56 »
Are you planning to reinstall Windows XP on your PC? It?s possible to do that without the need to activate it.

Before starting, go to C:\ WINDOWS\ SYSTEM32 and save the files wpa.dbl and wpa.bak on a floppy. After the reinstallation, start your system in ?Save Mode?. Save a copy of the new files wpa.dbl and wpa.bak and replace them by the copy which you made before the reinstallation. Restart then your PC normally. Windows XP is now activated.

PS:  I didn't try it yet. I also didn't understand why we should save a copy of the new fileswpa.dblandwpa.bak

On the other hand, my system doesn't need activation. For it's activated automatically when I use the "Restoration CD". So, I didn't find the file wpa.bak on it. I found the file wpabaln.exe instead. So, seems that this matter needs confirmation from others. Thanks?
