Does anyone know anything about TiVo DVR Model SD-DVR40.

Apparently an American device, Hughes.

What I need to know is, can it be converted to Pal and any other conversions it made need to be able to operate in Australia. :?

Heard about Tivo, Misty, but can't tell you much about it.

My friend has just bought a dvr from Evesham.

They were on sale in the UK at one time so some must do PAL.
I think the problem wass that you had to subscribe to TIVO to be able to use them to record the programmes and it was expensive so they didnt take off as well as they would have done if the subscription costs had been more reasonable.

I think that now there are plenty of PVRs around for terrestrial, cable and satellite then they have probably had their day.

Saw one on eBay back when I was buying new techie thingies that I don't know how to use. I still haven't learnt how to use my DVD Recorder, so no more electrical appliances that require programming.
I bought a new toaster and thats as far as I'm willing to go.

Sandra I didn't realise that you had to subscribe to TIVO, I'm not even sure if it is available in Australia. We have satelite, and that costs enough and we barely watch it.

I am not sure what the satellite situation is in Oz, my brother asked a knowledgable friend of mine a few years back if it was possible to "get around" the subscription as he was able to do so for european satellites but he didnt know the setup for down under.

A few years later on and I have learned how to get a lot of european satellites for free but it takes a fair bit of patience and a lot of time to keep on top of things.
Unfortunately I still dont know how to do the same for the southern hemisphere satellites to help you or my brother

I'm fairly sure it's possible to get around the subscription bit. I've noticed that you can buy just about everything you need on eBay. The initial outlay seems a bit expensive and I'm a little short on patience as well.
