HI, I have a socket 754 AMD motherboard with 2 DIMM slots. I have 2 512MB pc3200 184pin sticks in there. I was wondering if I can add a 1GB stick and take out the 512MB. I don't know if I have dual channel or not and if so does it make a difference?

Sandra will probably be able to confirm that, but in the meantime, you could check out www.crucial.com./uk who guarantee to match memory to motherboard. You don't actually have to commit to buy anything to get the information you need.

It shouldnt do any harm to try it, the pc will let you know if its not suitable.

Have you already got the 1 gig ram or are you thinking about buying some ?

Read your motherboard manual or go to your motherboard website and
check what size and combination of ram is supported. Also some motherboards are fussy with what brand ram they use.

I have a socket 754 motherboard, I haven't bought the RAM yet. You see I was wondering if I could buy a 1 gig stick and put it in there instead of having to put 2 in there if it was dual channel. That way I could go ahead and buy 1 gig and not have to spend nearly $200 dollars or more

yes, your M/B supports 1 gig sticks of ram.
