More than three-quarters of internet connections in the UK are broadband, figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show.
The proportion of broadband connections in the UK in September this year stood at 75.2 per cent, up from 72.6 per cent in June. According to the ONS' survey of ISPs, less than a quarter of connections - 24.8 per cent - are dial-up.
Compared to this time three years ago, the number of broadband connections has more than trebled - dial-up connections accounted for 78.2 per cent in September 2003.
