OIC Sandra thanks.

No big deal though, lots of companies do this. I have a few Direct Debits that are cheaper than billing.

They have had the bright idea that everyone should pay by either direct debit, or monthly payment plan, DG, and anyone who doesn't comply, will be 'fined' £5 for every bill they pay by alternative means, online banking included.

To protest to BT over these charges BBC Watchdog have added THIS LETTER for you to use.

The charge is increasing to £0.50 a month / £1.50 a quarter - see OFCOMs site for details.

Did you also Know that receiving a paper bill is more expensive than receiving an online bill

£11 if you pay by DD and receive a paper bill

£10.75 if you do not receive a paper bill and just use online billing.

Needless to say I have cancelled my paper bill. :o

The latest is that Virgin Media has become the frontrunner.  It's keen to take on its arch rival Sky which also wants to buy Pipex.  Carphone Warehouse is still interested and Orange and Tiscali are now interested too.  BT has now lost interest.

Tiscali and Orange are also thought to be circling Pipex.

:aarrgh:  Let's hope they are circling very widely.   :bawl:
