Search giant Google has scrapped the name Froogle for its product finding service.
The original name was a pun on the word 'frugal', but Google has become dissatisfied with it because people did not understand what the service was for. Instead, it will be renamed Google Product Search.
"The name caused confusion for some because it doesn't clearly describe what the product does," said Marissa Mayer and Jeff Bartelma on the Google blog.
As well as renaming the service, Google is refreshing the interface with the aim of making it easier for people to find the products they want online.
"We're taking the opportunity to refocus the user experience on providing the most comprehensive, relevant results in a clean, simple, easy-to-use user interface," said Mayer and Bartelma.
Google also recently launched Google Checkout, a service similar to PayPal, in the UK in an attempt to make purchasing products online simpler for surfers.
