Music videos to your taste
« on: May 11, 2007, 15:12 »
You will soon be able to make a personalised channel of your favourite music videos on the Last.fm website.

Last.fm has secured deals with EMI and Warner - two of the 'big four' music labels - and is in negotiations with Universal and Sony, as well as 20,000 independent labels to create what it says is the "largest legal catalogue of music videos on the web".

Martin Stiksel of Last.fm said: "With pop TV dead, there's nowhere to go to easily find music videos anymore - unless you want to spend hours trawling through bad quality YouTube clips. Last.fm video will become the prime destination for anyone looking for a hassle-free stream of music vids tuned to their taste."

You will be able to stream somewhere in the region of 150,000 music videos and make a personalised channel according to your tastes. Last.fm already offers the ability to create personalised radio stations and has 20 million users worldwide.

If you don't like the video you are seeing then you can skip immediately to the next one, according to Last.fm. The videos will be streamed at a bit-rate of 128kpbs and will not carry any advertising.

The service is due to go live sometime in the next week. Last.fm was launched in 2002.
