I havent tried it yet but this program looks like it may be quite useful and its a freebie  :)

YouTube Downloader 2.11

Up til now I have been using www.keepvid.com to save clips but they only save as .flv files and you need a suitable player and/or convertor.
If this program works ok then that should be easier and more useful but maybe it wont save from as many different sites as Keepvid will.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it, Sandra.  I currently use the Media Pirate add-on with my Firefox browser, but it only saves in .flv format.  I doubt the quality of the video will improve simply by saving them in a different format (much will depend on the original format, of course) but it'll be interesting to compare them.

I have used greasemonkey before (Firefox add-in), but then you have to convert the flv file.

Another alternative is http://www.videodl.org/ again downloads flv files.

Sandra what converter do you use to convert .flv files? I have Rad Tools that don't seem to do it, SmartSoft Video Converter Pro, Nero 7 and a couple of others.

Total Video Converter does FLV quite quickly along with converting from and to lots of other formats.

I was also using Keepvid.com for downloading videos from Youtube and other video sites, but thanks for sharing this software. I like them when they are free to use!
