Web Cam Problems?
« on: January 31, 2008, 10:41 »
Hi All
now I'm not sure weather this should be in the Software or Hardware department so please forgive me if Iv put it in the wrong place.

I have a Logitech Web Cam and I am having great difficulty in getting it to work correctly I have MSN and Iv just put Skype on too as the problem I am having is affecting MSN as well, and Logitec recommend Skype, well my problem is this when I install Web Cam and set it all up mic recording ect all seems ok and it tells me that I have successfully install the Web Cam, so I go onto Skype and here you can record your voice to check that it is set up right for Skype and a Lady says If you can hear this recording you have set up Skype correctly, but it doesn't  I cant hear my voice it's all bitty and fades in and out I have spent a lot of hours trying to sort this out and the same problem on MSN only on MSN I need to be talking to someone else as it s right frustrating can anyone give me some help please I just don't know what else to do  :dunno:

Thanks Once Again

Are you using a seperate sound card or is it onboard ?

Whichever one it is I would see if you could update the drivers for the sound card or uninstall and reinstall them if you cant find any newer ones.

You may need to look in the audio control panel to make the webcams mic its default device and possibly enable mic boost as well.

The Logitec drivers are probably ok its the sound card drivers that will possibly need sorting out.

Go to device manager and have a look at the Sound, Video and Game cotrolllers part.
Then see if you can upgrade the audio drivers from there.

See if you can identify which make the audio is, Realtek, Creative or any other make as you may need their software installing as well as the drivers to get their control panel for the audio device.

Hi I have 2 device drivers
1. Realtek High definition Audio
2. Microsoft UAA Function Driver for High Definition Audio - Realtek 880

They are both tiked
should I try updating these?

Yes and also see if you have a Realtek HD Audio manager inside the control panel as that will be where you can alter the audio settings.
