Best Free Antivirus
« on: April 29, 2008, 23:29 »
I have AVG 7.5 free is that enought?
I did look into better software and came accross a high rated product. I looked further and attempted to buy it
at a great price, but when attempting to buy it from a USA site I was redirected to there UK site.
The UK site price was more than double the USA sites price and plus vat.
Hence will stick with my old product.

Yes, it's affectionately known as 'Rip-off Britain', JK.  AVG seems to be adequate enough for most, and practising safe surfing also helps a lot.  You might be interested in AVG 8.0 which has just come out.  There's a thread on it here:)

The free antivirus program with the highest detection rate is "Avira", http://www.free-av.com/

I use ClamAV on linux and the mac.. not really for detecting viruses that would affect these systems but ones that could affect windows machines - there is a windows version, http://w32.clamav.net/, though I'm not sure how good this is.

You could always take a look at: http://www.pc-pals.com/smf/antivirus.php
