Topic: W-R CD

Hello all,
   Here I'm with a new problem that happened to me before and now it is happening to a friend of mine.
   It concerns the re-Writable CD: After burning some data on it, it gave the signe that it has recorded all the data. So my friend erased the original data from his hard disk thinking that he has now all on his W-R CD. In fact When we put the CD in the driver, it shows that it is full almost, but trying to open some parts of it, it does'nt work.
   Is there any way to read that CD correctly?

Hi Joudi,

It depends on the software you are using to write the CDRW.

I know that Roxio Easy CD Creator has a "scandisk" program built-in which can detect and fix errors on the CD. I'm not sure about Nero though. Does anyone else know?

Dont know about reading the CD but it may be an idea to try a data recovery program on the hard drive to see if your friend can recover the lost data as soon as possible in case the cd did not write correctly

Not much else I can add to Sean and Sandra, other than if you have something like Norton Utilities, you may be able to extract the data from the CD, although this would be less likely if the other two options have failed

It may even be able to read the unreadable parts on the cd as well with any luck

I realise this is extremely unhelpful at this moment, and I'm not trying to be too clever after the event, but as a tip for the future, it's always a good idea to test back up discs (especially important files) before wiping them from your hard drive.
