The gases that make up Earth's atmosphere came from a swarm of comets, not from bubbling volcanoes as long thought, a new study says.

From the title I was a bit like well, duh.. .everything we see came from space....

Seems quite plausible to me Sam.  Water came from comets so it makes sense for gases to originate from the same source.
