Getting back on topic, it sounds like a hardware problem rather than software.
I'd take the card out, use a vacuum cleaner to suck the dust out of the AGP slot (be careful where you stick it
) Then get a plastic eraser and clean the AGP contacts on the GeForce card by lightly rubbing the contact with the eraser.
You'd be surprised how often this works!
BTW I'm using the word "Eraser" because the other word would only cause certain people to lower the tone
