whoa, punctuation please :brick:

well, you've actually answered your own question. You need the CDs to install the software onto your laptop... Why dont you set aside a few hours to install all the software you think you will need, then it will be there when you need it  ;D

Hi GSS,

I have never done that before, but I can tell you a part of the answer, the others will add to my answer or give you better.

If you have XP, you open "start" then "all programs" then you take the first in the list (in french it's called "accessoires") and then "system tools" there you have the option "assistant to transfer files and parameters".

I can't lead you more than that. Hope my idea is correct.

I know that there is a way to transfer by a special cable through usb. Is it the rest of the steps? I don't know.

The cable you are thinking of is USB bridge cable Joudi.
A better way is to set up an ethernet connected network or even a wireless one to the laptop.
Unfortunately none of these methods are suitable for transferring installed programs from one PC to another only the files from one PC to the other.
To install a program you need the CD or the download with the installer and exe files on it  :)

You cannot transfer INSTALLED PROGRAMS from one PC to another. Well, not unless you want to recreate ALL the registry entries in Windows Registry too. And with most programs, I wouldn't know how many reg entries have been made.

If you copy the directories across, the program will probably be unstable.
