Rain of publicity
« on: September 07, 2003, 19:45 »
Hi all,

Since about two weeks my computer is submitted to a lot of publicity (Casinos, and other things but not really sexe). I wiped all my cookies many times and some other programs or things in which I have doubt, it didn't work.

I remember it happened to me before and I found somewhere among my files the traces, When I took it off it stopped. But now I don't remember where to finds it's place.

My internet is connected continuousely, I can't cut it unless I take the wire off then no publicity. That happens to me even if I clic on an other icone (Word, for exemple). I have two windows xp on my pc, that happens only on one of them.

That publicity comes in a way, many together, when I close one, others replace it, sometimes five times behind each other.

Can you remind me in which file on my system I can find their traces?

                                 Thank you.

Hi Joudi,

You may need to install either Ad Aware, or Spybot, or both, to find and delete the spyware which is possibly on your computer.   Both of these programs are free.  Just be aware that if you have any installed programs which use adware / spyware to run, such as Kazaa,  these may no longer work once you have removed the spyware.  In my opinion, if that is the case, they are not worth having anyway.  :)

You may also benefit from a Pop Up Stopper, which will stop pop up (and most pop under) ads appearing as you visit web pages.
Many thanks to all our members, who have made PC Pals such an outstanding success!   :thumb:

Another brilliant bit of software you might like to try Joudi is Proxoitron.

Proxomitron allows you to filter our all sorts of distractions such as advertisments, pop-ups, pop-unders, flash images with sounds ( :P Sandra), animated gifs, javascript, banners of all kinds, background sounds, background graphics, frames etc. etc. etc.

It is probably the most versatile little program I have ever come across :)
