need a little help

i wont bore you with all the specs but i was trying to change an old pentium 2 pc,well put it in a new case.
stripped it and put it in the new case and now nothing no monitor,the pc also sumtimes load for
any ideas guys and girls.
 five second then dies.
i have built a few pcs and never came accross this problem before.
The mobo is seated properly as is all the rest of the guts.

Three things that immediately spring to mind.

1. Is the motherboard mounted on spacers?
2. Have you tried the power supply on another PC?
3. Is the CPU seated correctly and adequately cooled?

^ yep should be one of those issues...

oh, make sure the CPU fan is attached to the CPUFAN connector, and not the SYSTEMFAN connector - some mainboards try to detect the CPU fan speed through the CPUFAN connector... if nothing is there it will switch off thinking the fan is broken - its to protect from burning the chip.
