Help Please!
« on: December 17, 2003, 02:58 »
Hi i just found this site and it looks great because i need some help on my comp. I accidentally said yes to an install thing that popped up. and ever since, every time i load up internet explorer, these annoying ads pop up. one, when i maximize it says in big letter ADCYCLE.com , i went there and im confused on how to uninstall it. and when i shut down, it says closing DDE server or w/e. and on my internet explorer this stupid extra bar on the top is on called intelligent explorer. can anyone help? i dont know how to get rid of it! its causing frequent crashes on my comp. like every 15 seconds! :-\

Looking on the site it appears that you have installed a 30 day trial program of Adcycle  :(

"AdCycle is ad management software powered by mySQL".

It should be listed in the Add/Remove part in your control panel of whichever OS you are using and you should be able to unistall it from in there as normal  :)

I'm using Windows 2000 professional and there is nothing suspicious on the add/remove programs. I have no idea how to get rid of this!!

Hi Abaddonist,

If it's what Sandra thinks it is, it doesn't really look that dodgy, and there should be a simple way to uninstall it.  Does it not appear in your Start Menu > All Programs list?  There may be an uninstall button there.
Many thanks to all our members, who have made PC Pals such an outstanding success!   :thumb:

Firstly try this:

Download and run Spybot S+D from
security.kolla.de

Download,
Install,
CLOSE ANY INTERNET EXPLORER WINDOWS (this is important as it cannot fix all of them otherwise)
Run,
Choose "search for updates" (there will be some),
Install the updates,
It will probably restart at this point.
"check for problems".
Fix the selected problems (it will highlight them in red).
It may offer to run the next time windows loads - this is normal and means something was in memory which cannot be fixed at the moment.

Then choose "Immunize" and select "immunize" from the screen that appear. Also worth installing the browser helper from the same screen.
hey promised the earth! Then delivered mud.
Technically it did meet the spec.
