hi all
what anti-virus software do you recommend ?
i want something that sits quietly in the background is easy to work with.
and free
i cant remember what i had before the last format. when you clicked the icon you got a graph and a list of things below that were allowed or not, but it was quite good.
can any of you remind me what that may be or any other recommendations.

I would personally recommend Norton, but if you want a free one, many people find AVG very good.

Hi Camstop,I have only used Norton anti virus and have never had a problem so far
( Probably get a really nasty one now
)
The one you describe isnt one I have seen from what I can remember.
I also use Norton personal firewall, which also seems to work well and is easy to set up and configure

Hi Camstop,
heres a really good deal, Norton System Works 2003 only £20
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2077731816
The seller is straight, I bought the 2002 from him about a month back for £12. Mine did not come in a box or with a maunal but it is a genuine Norton disk not a copy.
You get Norton Utilities, Ghost, and Anti Virus, I was using McAfee before, but I rate Norton.
But the really best bit is you get Roxia 'GoBack' as well. Great for when you cock something up with a bad download or you muck up the registary or delete something by mistake. You just 'GoBack' to a boot up or pre install time before the cock up, dead simple, all sorted in two ticks.
catch
PS. My purchase was a 'Buy it' and I have just noticed this is a 'Auction' but he has 100 copies and only 19 bidders so far, and it ends at about 6.30 pm today

I just wondered if any of you knew of a program called
"The Cleaner" I have found it on my PC and nobody is admitting to have downloaded it, its relating to the cleanup of Trojans??

Norton AV 2002 or 2003 dont get the system works it will just eat up more resouces and really does not have any benifits to your system. The Norton AV by its self is great its all I use and its all we recommend or sell to our customers at the office.

I'm using Norton Anti-Virus and Zonealarm [free] and I'm happy with them both. But when the time comes to fork out for a Norton update I will go for AVG. I downloaded it on to a friends PC and it looks a fine piece of software.
