Hi playmates,
I'm spending a few days at a friends house up in the Northen lakes near Ullswater. Anyway they have a Patriot PC with a Cyrix 6x86MX chip with 28MB of ram, running on Win 98, yes you read it right. Anyway they do not know alot about PC's and use the internet infrequently, well they would with that PC.
They have a 'pay as you go' account with Supanet.com. But I convinced them to subscribe to a free months trial with AOL as they had no security on their PC and were clueless about critical updates.
So after a defrag, it's first naturally, downloading 18 Windows critical updates, and AVG Anti-Virus, Spybot, SpyBlaster, and ZoneAlarm. They have gone from owning a 'bag of crap' to owning a 'secure bag of crap'
The connection speeds are usless, they have a 56Kbps modem but AOL connects at 28Kbps and Supanet at 31Kbs, do you think it is a BT line problem. The phone line also has a fax machine connected to it, on a first to grab the line gets connected basis.
Any ideas folks?
PS. the Mailwasher site link from PC-Pals don't work
