Just a fast look on the forum I found some, although I know some of them.
Take some examples:
ATA
EIDE
CPU
ISP
Sometimes its not necessary to know the full names as they are often just as meaningless to me Joudi, usually as long as you know for example that the EIDE is the type of drive that connects to the IDE channel on the motherboard (E,I think is just enhanced IDE although I stand to be corrected).
ATA is the soon to be standard replacement for IDE.
I know that CPU is Central Processing Unit and that ISP is Internet Service Provider but the rest often just become a name in itself to me,such as DMA and UDMA.
I would have thought that the abbreviations are fairly universal as english seems to be the main PC language similar to the way that it is now accepted as the "norm" for nautical and aeronautical communications.
This will probably make the abbreviations and acronyms easier for a non native english speaker to learn what that thing is rather than its full name
