I'll never buy a packaged computer ever again.
I've loaded up xp as an upgrade to 98 on my C drive and all went swimmingly. Now I only need to sort out my sound and internet connections.
Looks like I'll be picking your (pc-pals) brains for a while yet.
I said exactly the same arthub, after I bought a Compaq, little upgradability, basically old hat components by the time I bought it. And unable to transfer software from the Compaq installation disks if you bought another PC. Not really knocking em
just not the kind of kit for someone like me
That's how I ended up here, when I realised even Simon could build his own.... I thought
Now I've got a full set of OS/programs able to transfer to a PC of my choice, and a home built PC with upgradeability built in.
OK not every thing goes to plan on occasion, but it's all grist to the mill, a learning curve that makes you wiser than you were the day before. Even though your PC may not quiet work as you want it to today, you know with a little help from your friends here at PC-Pals it will do eventually. Then you get the bug for tinkering, and along comes prob number..... all go fun
but the bottom line is your gaining knowlage all the time.
Have fun mate.
