Well, I also used PlusNet for a while, and I found them OK.  The problem my cousin is having is high contention I think.  She is in a highly populated area of South London, and finds her connection very slow at peak times, but OK at, say, 5 in the morning!  She also has big problems with random disconnections, and has been unsuccessful in trying to get support from PlusNet, as the support lines are seemingly undermanned.  She waited on hold on one occasion for 35 minutes, before giving up, so you can see why she might be reluctant to stick with PlusNet.

Basically, she wants a faster connection, but only uses the Internet occasionally, and is understandably a bit reluctant to quadruple her monthly Internet expenditure, on top of the initial set up costs.  She's never actually experienced Broadband, but I'm sure, when she does, she won't regret it!

So far the only Broadband deal that I can find for us up here Bat is Aol or BT: You can't get Ntl or Telewest which I find strange considering Telewest have an office up here. I think Aol is about £25.00 per month and £80.00 connection Bt is about the same.

From what I can see AOL is £28 per month for the standard package and £35 for the plus package. It does mention things about paying for calls, but I assume this is to use standard dial up (calls it narrow band and 0845 number) their info isn't clear

I think our problem up here Whiskas, is that we are still on copper wire with very few cable enabled places, so the likes of NTL are no good. There are all the other ISPs who offer BB tho

Two more ADSL companies have slashed their prices. FairADSL, which claims to be the UK's cheapest broadband service provider at £18.99 a month, has reduced its set-up fee from £50 to £33. And Eclipse Internet has reduced the cost of its broadband starter pack by £50 to £74.99.

Even Demon Internet have dropped their prices and now charge £24.95 a month with no setup charge
