Well I went to PC world, and I wasn't that impressed, the best computers in there were the only ones up to my spec and they were £1400 - £1700 - the ones they proposed were Advent T9302 and T9402 which even the guy said the components were cheap as pc world built them. And the HP T790, which wasn't too bad but an astonishing £1700 - including the 19" monitor.

Lona's lot didn't seem to go up to my spec. Just looking on ebay now after seeing cammy's post elsewhere.

Think I'm going for the dell Dimension, with ati x800 graphics and all the other gear I wanted lol - £1500

Bit quiet on here, I'm hoping everyone is okay, I know some people are in the thick of the bad weather.  :(

Yes, it is a bid dead round here, Michelle.  I'm sure that £1500 for a Dell will get you something decent.   :)

It comes with XP Home, but I'm thinking about paying the extra £58 for the XP pro - would that be worth doing??

I think its only really if you are networking that it has any real advantages Michelle.
As I have only ever used pro and media centre I am uncertain as to what extras pro has over home though  ???

Me again, not sure if I will bother with PRo lol

Anyway another question, probably should go elsewhere sorry.

When I get the new computer, can I add my old HD as a seperate thing,via a cable (would this then be an external drive?)  so that I can still access it but it doesn't mess up the new HD.

or

Is there a simple way of copying the files over to the new HD ?

The easiest way is to open the new pc and add the old drive as a slave but that may invalidate your warranty.
The next easiest option is to network your old and new pcs together, XP makes this really easy, whether you use an ethernet cable between the pcs or use a router.
Once the network has been set up make any folders that you want to transfer to the new pc shared ones and copy them over  :)

The first PC i bought around 7 years ago was a Mesh


They were brilliant and gave life time tech help over the fone and the PC is still going strong  :thumb:


They are a lot bigger company now but they are still winning awards and magazine tests for their PC's  8)


I always said I'd buy another mesh PC until i seen how cheap they were on ebay  :horror: ;D ;D

Ohhhhhhhhh I was so just about to order the dell. When someone told me to look at Fujitsu, but didn't see anything much there. And now this doesn't look bad.

I "think" I still prefer the Dell.

Not looking at Ebay incase I'm tempted - Someone I know also just bought a Tiny, and they've had nothing but trouble, and now have to download upgrades for the drivers!! On a new machine! Diabolical I say.

Looks a good spec, I especislly like the PCI Express grahics card as they seem very good compared to AGP  :)
You would need the monitor cable which is an optional extra, for another tenner.
Also I know that we dont use them much these days but I think another tenner for an optional floppy drive would be a wise bet too  :)

hard to imagine 500 gigs of room. Thats an aweful big chunck of stolen online media room.  :-*

I've visited mesh computers, Michelle.  

They have a factory up here in Scotland.

They will make up whatever spec you want.

I've heard good things about them :)
