You can remove the heatsink, but it is risky:
1) its stuck with proper thermal glue. This stuff can rip the skin off a rhino if you're not carfeul when pulling.
2) you must use thermal glue to replace the heatsink so the contact is good.

What I can say is, its a red board, and has a silver heatsink : the board is quite new. Since its powered by ATI, it isn't MADE by ATI, but uses an ATI chip (or Radeon spec). There are a few different radeon drivers available, you'll have to try them all I guess?
The model number on the card says AGP, so its an AGP card, not PCI.
