If its a brand new deck then it probably has a pre amp built in unfortunately.I use my old Technics one from my old full size system I scrapped the rest when I got this a couple of years back so have to run it through a preamp.

Do you have a number of small round sockets on the back of your PC Lona? There will be ones for speakers, poss. one for Line In, poss one for Line Out, and poss. one for MIC. These should be located in the same large rectangular section where you have the serial and parallel connectors (the long ones with lots of little holes)

I have a couple of round ones Bat. As I said in a previous post my son uses one of them to plug his mobile phone into for downloading ringtones.
My mouse is plugged into one. I don't have a MIC one as it has a built in MIC. I will have a really good look to-morrow as it's quite a hassle pulling out this PC desk I have and I will report back to you. Ta much :)

Yeah I read that about your son, that's why I think there is a LINE IN socket, like an earphone socket.

If this is the case, then this will be the one to use. In order to use it you can get an adapter from a computer shop that will convert a stereo mini jack plug to two phono plugs (male plugs at all three ends). Best check the sockets first though ;) and if there is any writing or are any symbols visible

Male plugs and female plugs, the mind boggles. I know about female and male connections for TV aerials but am totally dumb when it comes to hifi equipment. It was me who set up our sky digi box and all the different cables but when it comes to PC's I am scared I screw everything up but I will have a go.

I might need Simon's 2 round ones to complete the job ;D ;D ;D. (that's if they are in working order) :P :P :P

Right Bat. I have looked at the back of PC. I have a small round socket between the sockets for my speaker connections. I would think that is for a MIC. I have 2 round sockets which I would say are female but they don't say whether they are line in or out. One of the round ones is directly beside the one my mouse goes into. The other one is down at the bottom above 2 usb sockets. I also have another small round one at the bottom which I would think would be for a joystick or something similar. On the HIFI I have 2 male leads, a white one and a red one going to record player. I also have an earphone socket that's all that's there. What do you think?

I think she mentioned in another post she had a USB keyboard Bat as she said it had 2 USB ports on it but recommended she only used one  :)
The one next to your mouse Lona will be the one for your keyboard if you werent using a USB one.
The two next to your speaker should be MIC, it should have a litle picture of a microphone and the other will be LINE IN ,if you are lucky.Sometimes instead of printed words or pictures they have symbols such as a circle with arrows pointing in or out,can you see anything like that?
Are there any colours on the sockets Lona mine has pink for mic, green for speakers and blue for line out?
My speaker socket is next to the joystick port, next is line out then last is mic in  :-*
