Putting sound through my stereo
« on: June 12, 2004, 13:01 »
Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of upgrading my soundcard so that I can put the output into my stereo and play it through the speakers in the living room. Reason for this is that I've just signed up to the new Napster (legal) service and I'm well impressed.

Can anyone recommend a suitable sound card (and rough price guide) and any other advice gratefully received.

Cheers
Phil :)

If you have Line out on your current card then that should do it Phil, without needing to upgrade the card.
I have a creative soundblaster 5.1 Live that has digital out as well as analogue and they start at around £30 I think but for just analogue out you should be able to get a reasonable one for around a tenner or less.
Of course you could pay a couple of hundred too but I dont think you would notice much difference audibly  :)

Thanks Sandra,

Better get meself down to Maplin and get a 25 metre stereo - phono lead made up! That'll probably cost more than a new sound card!
