Ade,

I was thinking of an odd 19" bit tight for space running three monitors. I even cut a piece of paper to represent the screen foot print of a 19", and to be honest I would not pay the extra premium which would be 2.5 times what I can get a 17" one for.

It would only be 17mm Vertical and 47mm on the Horizontal bigger measured against a 19" Diamondtron. And remember with a Trinitron/ Diamondtron you get edge to edge screen usage . And you dont have that massive Mask to stare at either. Usable screen dimensions on the P791 are 245mm Vertical and 325mm Horizontal

That said, a manufactured Dec 2001 [bought new April 2002 for £300] 19" Sony hardly ever used {I was emailing the guy} went today for £69 but it was "pick up only" in Tooting   :-\

But have a look at This

Mitsubishi 19" very small foot print considering, £55 now but I bet it goes for ball park £100 + £20 P&P. I saw two 18 month old 19" Iiyama VM Pro 454's go for £140/ £176 respectivley as few weeks back [£238 new Ebuyer] barmy I know.

Dimensions on mine are only an inch to 2 inches different to 17". Visible monitor screen is 19" diagonally so quite a difference to visible screen size on 17".

well I would be if I just happened to be tempted with this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5114374978&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

lovely monitor, but I think I'll just watch what it goes for...as I write £84.75 + £20 P&P with 17 mins to go.....New £205.99 delivered from Ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=1278798057&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=59545

EDIT: And thats what it went for, about right I reckon, but possibly worth  a punt at the death with a max bid at £94.75 if I really wanted it.

Well I received a cheque for £33 [what I paid including P&P] from that firm I bought the first monitor from on Ebay. Just had to send them a couple of email reminders, but it arrived seven working days after they were in receipt of the monitor, so cannot complain.  Part of a big US IT refurb group as it happens, I saw a Fox News promotional video on them....Fox News Channel Production....phew that was a lucky escape then. ::)

Right lets see how long it takes Ebuyer to remburse my CC. They were in receipt of the monitor this Tuesday, so early days yet......But I'm hopeing to beat Ade's refund epic, by a good few seasons.......... keep ya posted.

I got an email yesterday [after I reconnected my PC last night, storms lightening] from Ebuyer.

Credit Card credited, but they have kept £11.21 no indication why, but it is the amount they charge for delivery. So I assume they have witheld it for the cost of product return. A rather insignificant sum, considering if they insist on witholding it, they will be talking to the Trading Standards Office. Below is a copy of a letter I enclosed with the returned monitor, so they are in non doubt as to my position regarding the issue.

But I'll wait until I see the credit on my MasterCard account, and then get back on the case  ::)

Reference: RMA No ***********

My reasons for returning this monitor or two fold, but primarily it is because this monitor is exhibiting discolouration on the vertical edges of the screen. On coloured graphics it is not noticeable. But one can see this clearly when working with subjects with white backgrounds that go right to the edges of the screen, WebPages, spreadsheets, Windows folders etc., which is what I mainly use the monitor for. I set the screen up to expand to the edge of the ?mask? as the default setting reduces the viewable screen far too much.

The discoloration is a mauve colour, running the full length of the right hand vertical edge, turning pinkish when it hits the right hand bottom toolbar. This discolouration extends 15 to 20 mm towards the centre of the screen. On the left hand vertical edge it is more grubby or dirty is the best way of describing it.

My set up consists of three 17? monitors running on two Matrox Millennium G450 Dual Head graphics cards. I have checked it is not a graphic card problem by swapping the monitors around. The screen discoloration is only displayed on the new CTX EX700F no matter which card it is on.  The other two monitors are fine even though they are six years old.

Like I stated earlier, that is the primary reason for the monitors return, however
the monitor is advertised as [taken directly from the Ebuyer website on August 12th 2004]  a CTX EX700F 17ins monitor Flat CRT 0.25 72kHz TCO99  this monitor does not have a flat cathode ray tube, as the above wording implies, and as such I was miss sold the product. Whilst I don?t suspect it was Ebuyer?s intention to miss represent the product, the fact is it did.

I hope Ebuyer will conclude the returns procedure swiftly, and make a full refund to my MasterCard, without the need for the involvement of third parties.
