Topic: MSI DVD/RW

Now putting the finishing touches to the new PC and the last piece in the Jigsaw is a DVD RW, have anybody heard any good or bad reports on an MSI DVD.

The reason I want to go down this road? is that it has a silver bezel to match up with the case. I already have matching DVD Rom (Aopen) and a 52x CD RW (Aopen)

I can't find anyone that does an aopen 8x or 12x dvd/-RW

I have a MSI DVD+/-R/RW.  Although it's not the same model as the one you're looking at, it performs to my complete satisfaction.

MSI seem to make reasonable motherboards and other pc components, I have recently bought a MSI PCMCIA Wi Fi cardbus which seems to work fine, so if the colour of the bezel is more important than the best functionality to you then go for it.
Otherwise, as Cammy says, the LG is probably the one that I would choose

The LG one is light cream with a silver flash at the bottom (put one in the Ideq I built) and reads a DVD in about 7 minutes Writing at all speeds has been flawless.

If the colour worries you then you could always remove the fascia and spray paint it to match the case (standard car paint is pretty good from what I hear).

Still undecided, thanks for the input Dack...as for the spray job, I have tried one doing that (used a primer and silver paint) not a bad job but?? not 100% perfect..bit like hanging wallpaper with 1 bubble and you notice it for years afterwards LOL. and being the perfectionist I am, will regret it if I do  

So I might go for this One it has duel bezels as well

What I will say is I've had nothing but trouble with the Liteon DVD writer in work. It just doesn't seem to like most of the media we try and use (e.g. only one out of 5 discs we burned with it yesterday verified).

They haven't updated the firmware on it yet though - so it is only extracting data at 4x speed too.

Arrived today and just fitted the new LG 12x DVD burner   "Smoking "  it really is quiet and fast..so smooth
