Sorry for not replying sooner - been out of the country for the last week and the hotel didn't have internet access.

As you have discovered by now you can reflash with a lower version firmware and it should revert to it's original state.
hey promised the earth! Then delivered mud.
Technically it did meet the spec.

Every thing seems ok? I'm running on Ver A104 firmware at the moment, the only thing I want to know what was the original firmware.

I can now burn with 8X bulkpaq discs, purchased some Ritek 8X
{DV 3155} Ritek Inkjet @£7.22 Printable A Grade (8x) DVD-R                  
 but will only burn @ 4X?

Firmware was 1.02 in mine IIRC
