Another thing worth trying (had this happen once) is try and enter the cmos (using F2/DEL etc) and then switch the monitor off and then back on again.
It sometimes happens that the monitor cannot sync up correctly to the signals from the PC and doing that causes the monitor to re-sync and display correctly.
